An amazing story!

This story kept me captive to the end! My husband's family made a similar escape from the Ukraine in 1929, so I was familiar with their many hardships. The author, Janice Dick, made it all come alive for me with her graphic descriptions. You must read this amazing story.

Heartwrenching!

It's hard to imagine a people living with such worry and fear and still able to keep the faith. Actually that's when faith is most needed. A beautiful story of love and faith.

Elma (Martens) Schemenauer

The Russian Mennonite experience in 1926 & beyond

. . . the author keeps us wondering whether and how it will be fulfilled. Their lives unfold through danger, desperation, drudgery, and moments of delight, all illuminated by the faith that burns in them, however dimly at times.

Marcia Lee Laycock

Great Historical Fiction

I was captivated by this story from the beginning. The setting seemed real, the events dramatic yet believable. The history of the struggles the Mennonite people went through came to life as the story unfolded. Well worth the time to read.

Violet Nesdoly

Captivating Mennonite Tale

. . . captivating from beginning to end.

Janet Sketchley

The world of Soviet Mennonites

In some ways this was a heavy book because of the people's struggles, but the way they dig deeper into faith and find the resources they need to carry on in the face of oppression is an example and an encouragement to readers today in whatever stresses we find ourselves.

Encouraging

This book was an encouragement to me as a reminder that God is always with us through uncertain times. His Love is all sufficient. . . . A clear account of the stresses and decisions they had to face. A lesson on true forgiveness.

Sharon K. Evers

Very excellent series!

Romance and tragedy were real life events.

Judith A. Chambers

Eye of the Storm

. . . well written and an accurate depiction of the hard times [during the Bolshevik Revolution].

Amazing series

This is a wonderfully researched historical novel (emphasis on historical!). The series of 3 is just in the packaging. In fact, the three are really one consistently delivered story! The writer so accurately captures the Mennonite values & character. I thank you as a woman and as a fellow ethnic.

Warm Christmas story

What a sweet story! I found myself often chuckling one moment and empathizing deeply the next. The characters are very strongly developed and the ending, while showing a clear character arc, definitely leaves you wanting more. Cute, amusing details sprinkled throughout give the story a lot of life, and the theme of loss and learning to live (and look outward) again will resonate with most!

Sheri Hathaway

. . . well written and kept pulling me along to find out how the healing would happen. Great story.
