Review: The Vanderbeekers of 141st Street

Absolutely delightful!
Five stars for The Vanderbeekers of 141stStreet by Karina Yan Glaser.
In brief, the family Vanderbeeker lives in Harlem, on 141stStreet, of course, in a lovely old brownstone. The six Vanderbeeker children are a unique and lively bunch, and this particular December, shortly before Christmas, their landlord, a Mr. Beiderman, a.k.a. “The Beiderman,” or “The Beezleman,” refuses to renew their lease, and they must prepare to move.
Since this is the neighborhood Mr. Vanderbeeker grew up in, and they all have wonderful relationships with almost everyone, the thought of a move is a heartbreaking reality. Unwilling to accept the inevitable, the children band together to change the mind of The Beiderman. Their antics are both heartwarming and wacky. Will their efforts succeed?
This is a great read-aloud book for all ages. The good news is, there are more Vanderbeeker books out there.
